Planning Board to Kick Off New Code Adoption Process Feb. 17thPosted by: Brad Buchanan
The Denver Planning Board will begin the adoption process for the City's new zoning code on schedule at its regular meeting at 3pm on Wednesday, February 17. The Planning Board will consider the new code and map over multiple meetings, beginning with information sessions from Community Planning and Development staff and culminating in a formal public hearing.
Following its public hearing, the Planning Board will make a recommendation to City Council. Council's Blueprint Denver Committee will then begin formal consideration of the code before referring the measure to the full City Council. As with any zoning matter, Council's process includes a required public hearing before adoption.
Although this schedule will inevitably extend the overall timetable for adopting the new code, I believe this is the appropriate and respectful way for the Planning Board to carry the code forward to the public and City Council given the significance of this legislation to our City and the considerable amount of public input we have received. An updated estimated adoption schedule follows.
