Mark Your Calendars for Draft #3!Posted by: Caryn Wenzara, Principal City Planner

We're excited to let you know that Draft 3 of the New Code will be posted Tuesday, November 3rd, here:  http://www.newcodedenver.org/rezoning/page/the-draft-code-and-draft-map

This near-final draft will include the previously posted interim revisions to Article 7 (Urban Center) and also incorporate substantial input from the commercial and residential community following the release of Draft 2.

We still need your input and there are multiple opportunities to comment on Draft 3.  You may use the comment feature here on the website or attend any of the following Listening Sessions and New Code Office Hours in November.  The Listening Sessions are jointly sponsored by Denver City Council and Denver Planning Board, with support from the Zoning Code Task Force.  For dates/times/locations:  http://www.newcodedenver.org/meetings/schedule/2009/11

The remainder of the New Zoning Code process, as announced by City Council in September, is expected to be as follows:

Mid-November through mid-December 2009:  Zoning Code staff will make final revisions in the New Code following the Listening Sessions

December 22, 2009:  Community Planning and Development submits the Final Draft to the Blueprint Denver Committee of City Council and posts to www.newcodedenver.org

January 6, 2010:  Denver Planning Board Public Hearing

January 21, 2010:  Community Planning and Development files for an ordinance to enact the New Code

January 25, 2010:  First Reading of New Code before full City Council

February 22, 2010:  Second Reading of New Code before full City Council, Public Hearing and possible Council vote

Thank you for you ongoing interest and involvement in the New Code effort.  We are thrilled at the level of participation we've received from the commercial and residential communities through public meetings, emails, phone calls, letters and Website interactions - all of which will help Denver deliver a new zoning code that offers clarity, predictability and economic opportunity and preserves Denver's economic vitality and outstanding quality of life.
